Education: Boyle Heights is served by the Los Angeles Unified School District including Murchison Street Elementary, Christopher Dena Elementary, Utah Street Elementary, Hollenbeck Middle School, and Theodore Roosevelt Senior High. Local private schools include Assumption Elementary, Dolores Mission, and Bishop Mora Salesian High School.
Transportation: Boyle Heights sits at the intersection of the 5, 10, and 60 Freeways. The Metro Gold Line has a Highland Park station and there are several bus lines which run along Figueroa Street.
Local Attractions: The former LAC+USC Medical Center building is an Art Deco structure recognizable to fans of the soap opera “General Hospital” where the building appeared in the opening credits for decades. Painted at the height of the Chicano Civil Rights Movement, the Estrada Courts murals are famed for their vibrancy. Breed Street Shul, once the largest Orthodox synagogue in the Western United States.
